Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, took charge of crowd control at the FCT High Court on Wednesday after Justice Maryann Anenih left the courtroom in frustration over the unruly crowd.
Justice Anenih, who was set to take Bello’s plea alongside two others, abruptly rose and announced she would not return until order was restored.
Reacting swiftly, Bello, seated at the front of the courtroom, stood and addressed the surging crowd. He instructed his supporters and sympathizers to vacate their seats and leave the courtroom immediately.
The former governor’s actions quickly diffused the tension, as his followers complied without resistance, exiting the courtroom one by one. To ensure total compliance, Bello positioned himself at the courtroom entrance, personally overseeing the departure of his aides and supporters.
This intervention restored calm and created an orderly atmosphere for the proceedings to continue.
Meanwhile, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, is leading the Federal Government’s legal team for the arraignment, while Joseph Bodunde Daudu, SAN, is representing Bello in the 16-count charges.
