Woman Dies Just Before Son’s Wedding in Ondo Town

A heartbreaking tragedy struck Ondo town over the weekend as 53-year-old Iyabo Akinnawo tragically passed away just hours before her son’s wedding ceremony.

The cause of her sudden death remains unclear, though initial reports suggest that Iyabo, a well-known businesswoman in the community, had been preparing for the wedding when the incident occurred.

According to an anonymous source, Iyabo had gone to a salon to have her hair done for the upcoming event. After returning home, she complained of a severe headache and went to bed to rest. A few hours later, while getting ready to attend to wedding preparations, she collapsed and died shortly after regaining consciousness.

Despite frantic efforts by her family to revive her, Iyabo was pronounced dead soon after.

Another account of the events states that she had appeared to be in good health earlier in the day after returning from a trip to the market, where she bought items for the wedding. A witness added that she had taken a motorcycle home that afternoon.

The sudden death of the beloved businesswoman has left the community in shock, with many speculating that a heart attack or cardiac arrest may have been the cause.

When our reporter visited the area, a large crowd of family members and locals had gathered, still in disbelief over the tragic news.

In a statement, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Yaba Police Station, Mr. Victor Olowolagba, confirmed that no formal report had been made yet. He assured that he would take action once the complaint was officially filed.
