The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman following the deadly stabbing of her co-wife in Daura town, located in the Daura Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident took place behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area after a domestic disagreement between the two co-wives escalated into violence.
The report detailed that on May 24, 2025, at approximately 11:00 pm, Nasir Yusuf, the husband, returned home from the market to discover his first wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
Responding promptly, police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) arrived at the scene and transported the injured woman to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where she was unfortunately declared dead by medical personnel.
During the ongoing investigation, the 23-year-old co-wife, Rabi’a Labaran, who lives at the same residence, was apprehended.
She admitted to the stabbing, explaining that the altercation arose from a misunderstanding with the deceased.
Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Bello Shehu, has urged the public to avoid domestic violence and discouraged taking the law into their own hands.
He emphasized the importance of seeking lawful solutions to conflicts, warning that vigilantism only causes further harm and weakens the justice system.
