Wike’s Aide fires back at Ojudu, says ex-Presidential Adviser lacks political relevance

Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has responded to recent criticism from Babafemi Ojudu, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, describing Wike as a more accomplished political figure.

Olayinka accused Ojudu of deceiving former President Olusegun Obasanjo into supporting the controversial impeachment of a democratically elected governor in Ekiti State, and questioned his moral authority to lecture others about the transient nature of political power.

This follows Ojudu’s remarks in which he condemned Wike for acting “as though political power lasts forever.”

In a strongly worded statement, Olayinka argued that Ojudu has become politically irrelevant, especially after his chosen candidate failed to win the APC presidential ticket in 2022.

“Egbon Femi Ojudu’s frustration is evident, but perhaps he should reflect on how his poor judgment in 2022 left him sidelined,” Olayinka said.

He also ridiculed Ojudu for not following through on his 2022 pledge to quit politics and take up farming. “Did he ever go to the farm to start cultivating cocoyam and vegetables as he promised?” Olayinka asked.

Olayinka went on to describe Ojudu’s past political actions in Ekiti as opportunistic. “It’s quite ironic that someone who once led a political coup is now preaching about power being temporary,” he said.

Comparing both figures, Olayinka asserted that Wike’s achievements in public office far outweigh those of Ojudu. “Wike has demonstrated his capability in politics. Unlike Ojudu, his legacy isn’t built on scheming out elected leaders through questionable means,” he said.
