Wike Arrives in Italy for Official Visit

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), landed in Milan, Italy, for a series of official engagements.

His visit includes meetings with key leaders, including Attilio Fontana, the President of Lombardy, one of Italy’s most economically important regions.

Wike’s trip, which began with his departure from Abuja on Tuesday night, saw him arrive in Milan at around 4:30 a.m.

He was greeted by Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed, the Charge d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Italy.

During his stay, Wike plans to discuss potential collaborations with regional leaders and explore opportunities in agriculture and vocational education.

Lombardy, with a population of approximately 10 million people, is not only Italy’s most economically significant region but also one of the largest in the European Union by both population and GDP.

The meeting between Wike and Fontana will focus on building partnerships in these sectors, as well as exploring strategic development projects between the region and Nigeria.

In addition to his discussions with local government officials, Wike will meet with agribusiness investors and experts in vocational training.

His goal is to uncover new avenues for cooperation that could benefit both Italy and Nigeria.

Accompanying the Minister on this trip are key officials, including Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the FCT Mandate Secretary for Education, Lawan Geidam, the Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, the Senior Special Assistant on Administration, and Barrister Benedict Daudu, the Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation.
