We’ve identified Nigerian agent who lured citizens to CAR – NIDCOM

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has identified a Nigerian agent allegedly responsible for luring a group of citizens to the Central African Republic (CAR), where they were reportedly mistreated.

The development was disclosed in a statement posted on Wednesday via the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to NIDCOM, the agent, who is currently in Nigeria, was traced after a viral video surfaced online showing distressed Nigerians stranded in Central Africa Republic.

The statement reads,
“BREAKING Nigerians stranded in Central African Republic CAR have arrived the capital [ Bangui ] and are now with officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Bangui.

“The attention of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) was drawn to the distress call in a viral video where some Nigerians were allegedly maltreated in Central Africa Republic (CAR)and immediately swung into action

“A big gratitude to the officials of the Nigerian Embassy as well as Military personnel of the CAR that accompanied them on their journey to the capital.

“The agent who lured them to the CAR is currently in Nigeria and has been identified.”
