VIDEO: Hausa Community Protests Alleged Eviction in Ondo, Begs Aiyedatiwa, Tinubu For Help

Okitipupa, Ondo State – Protests erupted in the Okitipupa local government area on Friday as members of the Hausa community rallied against an alleged eviction orchestrated by Dr. Anthony Aduro, the CEO of Aduro Farms.

The protesters, who claim to have been tenants in the area for over 50 years, assert that they have consistently paid their rent to Okitipupa Local Government without default.

In a conversation with Starnews NG, the demonstrators expressed their distress over Dr. Aduro’s assertion that he had purchased the land they occupy.

Further investigation revealed an ongoing dispute between Andrew Ogunsakin, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, and Dr. Aduro regarding the ownership of the contested land. The protesters accused the businessman of attempting to leverage his wealth and influence to forcefully evict them from the property, which they allege was allocated to them by the local government authority in Okitipupa, Ondo State.

In a video obtained by Starnews NG, a spokesperson for the protesters, speaking in English, highlighted their long-standing relationship with the local government, stating, “We have been tenants of Okitipupa local government for over 50 years and have been paying rent without any interference.”

The protesters have called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene on their behalf. They expressed concerns that Dr. Aduro’s financial resources are being used to intimidate both them and the local government chairman.

As of the time of this report, Starnews NG was unable to reach Dr. Aduro for comment. Attempts to contact the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government were also unsuccessful.
