VC Mourns As FUOYE Loses Don

The Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria (FUOYE), in a sober mood announced the sudden death of one of its erudite scholars, Prof. John. O. Agbenin.

Prof. Agbenin died on January 4 at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State after a brief illness.

Until his death, the late Professor was of the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil and Land Resources Management.

His death was announced in a statement released by the University Public Relations Officer, Foluso Ogunmodede.

In the statement, Ogunmodede said the university has lost one of its best lecturers to the cold hands of death while conveying the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina’s condolences to the bereaved family.

The statement entitled “Notification of death of Professor John. O. Agbenin,” said the late Professor passed on after a brief illness on January 4.

It reads: “The university management wishes to announce the death of Professor John. O. Agbenin of the Department of Soil and Land Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture.

“According to information, Professor Agbenin died on Thursday, 4th January, 2024 after a brief illness at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin, Edo State.

“The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, members of the university management and the entire university community commiserate with the family on this great and irreparable loss.

“It’s our prayers that GOD grant the family and the entire FUOYE community the courage to bear the loss.

“His burial arrangements will be announced later. May his soul rest in peace.”
