UK PM, Starmer Congratulates Trump Ahead of Inauguration, Hails Enduring US-UK Relationship

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has offered his congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his upcoming inauguration, expressing confidence that the longstanding “special relationship” between the UK and the U.S. will continue to thrive in the years ahead.

According to NAN, Trump, set to begin his second term as president on Monday, marked the eve of the inauguration with a rally in which he highlighted the growth of his political base and the future success of America under his leadership.

In a statement issued Sunday evening, Starmer praised the enduring friendship between the two nations, noting that the UK and the U.S. have long worked together to promote security, prosperity, and peace. He emphasized the UK’s commitment to continuing collaboration to ensure mutual success.

Reflecting on his meeting with Trump in September at Trump Tower in New York, Starmer reiterated his belief in the value of personal diplomacy and the importance of strengthening transatlantic ties. He also stressed the importance of investing in the partnership between the two countries to address global challenges and seize opportunities for growth.

“I look forward to our next meeting, as we continue our shared mission to ensure the peace, prosperity, and security of our two great nations,” Starmer concluded, reaffirming his confidence in the continued flourishing of the UK-U.S. relationship.
