An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State has arraigned Abdullateef Olasunkanmi, 18, and Sunday Morice, 28, on charges of theft, assault, malicious damage, and disturbing public peace.
The Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred on June 12 at approximately 1:15 a.m. in the Arobieye area of Ota. It was claimed that the defendants, along with others still at large, attacked a driver, Zinsu Joseph, damaged his vehicle, and stole a mobile phone valued at N120,000.
Inspector Adaraloye noted that the actions of the defendants contravened Sections 249(D), 335, 390(9), and 516 of the Ogun State Criminal Code, 2006.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties in like sum. The court stipulated that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, have verifiable employment, and present proof of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case has been adjourned until February 10 for further proceedings.
