Two persons were injured after a mini truck loaded with perishable goods crashed and overturned on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. The accident occurred near the University of Lagos waterfront while the vehicle was moving towards the Island.
Traffic officials said the incident involved only the truck, which lost balance and fell on its side, causing injuries to the occupants. Emergency responders were quickly alerted to the scene.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the damaged truck had been removed from the road to ease movement, but the goods it was carrying were still being transferred into another vehicle.
According to the agency, the delay in clearing the goods was due to the wait for an additional truck to complete the transfer, as the items involved were perishable.
Visual footage released by traffic officials showed workers offloading the goods while LASTMA personnel monitored the area to prevent further obstruction on the bridge.
The authority added that traffic was brought under control with the assistance of police officers, while clean-up and evacuation work continued at the accident scene.
