Residents in the Cultural Center area along Ondo Road in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, targeted a truck carrying food items on Monday.
The truck, which was traveling from Ondo town to the state capital, experienced a breakdown at the spot of the attack, leading to looting.
According to eyewitnesses, the looted items included foodstuffs packed in cartons featuring the image of President Bola Tinubu. Among the attackers were motorcycle riders and other locals who took advantage of the situation to plunder the truck’s cargo.
When journalists got to the scene where the looting occurred, there were empty cartons and grains of rice and gari on the roadside and the main Ondo road while the truck has been moved.
