Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have rescued 25 kidnapped victims and eliminated three bandits during a significant operation in the Kauru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
The operation, named Golden Peace, was launched early on Tuesday morning to disrupt the criminal networks wreaking havoc in the region. Intelligence sources, including security analyst Zagazola Makama, confirmed that the operation began at around 6:00 a.m., focusing on known bandit hideouts in villages like Ruwan Sanye, Randa, Rafin Gora, Libere Gari, and Libere Makaranta.
In Randa Village, troops encountered fierce resistance, leading to a gunfight in which three bandits were neutralized. The skirmish caused the remaining bandits to retreat, abandoning 25 hostages who were swiftly rescued by the troops.
During the continued operation, soldiers tracked the fleeing criminals, recovering items such as roasted chicken, cigarettes, tramadol, energy drinks, and clothing, which indicated the bandits’ hasty escape. Further searches uncovered an illegal medical facility used by the bandits to treat their wounded members. The makeshift clinic was destroyed to prevent the criminals from receiving future medical aid.
The success of Operation Golden Peace highlights the military’s ongoing efforts to restore security and dismantle criminal activities in Kaduna State.
