Troops neutralize ISWAP fighters in Borno Army base attack

Nigerian troops repelled an attack by the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.

The insurgents had attempted to overrun the Damboa Super Camp of the Nigerian Army Thursday night.

They stormed the location in about nine gun trucks, three Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and three MRAPs.

A military intelligence officer told PRNigeria that the assault was successfully foiled.

“Ground troops, with the support of the military Air Task Force (ATF) engaged them, and eliminated scores”, he said.

Three gun trucks used by the terrorists were destroyed, while arms and ammunition were recovered.

Soldiers carried a clearance operation after the battle and are continuing patrol of the general area.
