Tribunal Orders Rerun in Kogi Senatorial Election

The Election Tribunal sitting in Lokoja has issued an order for a rerun election in Kogi East senatorial election.

The rerun election would be between Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho of the All Progressives Congress and Dr Victor Alewo Adoji of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The ruling by the Tribunal mandates a rerun election to be conducted in 94 polling units, which collectively account for over 70,000 votes.

The decision was reached after a thorough examination of the petition presented by Dr. Adoji, who had raised concerns about irregularities during the initial election.

The rerun election is expected to provide an opportunity for a fair and transparent resolution of the electoral dispute between the two candidates.
