The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has wrapped up its defence in the ongoing legal battle with the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The case pertains to the petition filed against the outcome of the highly contested February 25 presidential election.
Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), the legal representative for INEC, declared the conclusion of the commission’s arguments on Tuesday, following the testimony of its sole witness. Dr. Lawrence Bayode, the Deputy Director of Information Technology (IT) at INEC, took the stand to provide crucial insights.
During his testimony, Dr. Bayode acknowledged that technical glitches prevented the transmission of the presidential election results. This admission came as a revelation, shedding light on a critical aspect of the controversy. However, he emphasized that these glitches did not impact the collation process of the election results.
As the legal battle continues, stakeholders eagerly await the next steps in this landmark case.
