President Bola Tinubu on Monday confirmed Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming Anambra governorship election by handing him the party flag at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The event came months ahead of the November 2025 election, as the APC works to grow its influence in the southeastern state.
Ukachukwu, known for his business background and charity work, emerged as the APC flagbearer after winning the party’s primary with 1,455 votes.
He was joined at the presentation by the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other party leaders from Anambra.
The brief ceremony, held in the President’s office, showed the party’s full support for Ukachukwu as he prepares to face rivals from other political parties.
For the APC, the goal is not just to compete but to gain more control in a state that has mostly been under opposition rule.
Ukachukwu’s emergence is seen as part of a larger effort by the party to connect with voters in the southeast and increase its presence ahead of what many expect to be a tough political contest in Anambra.
