President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled visit to Kaduna State and will now travel to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as part of efforts to address the worsening violence that has continued to plague the state.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who explained that the President’s visit is aimed at assessing the situation firsthand and engaging with key stakeholders to find a lasting solution.
Originally, the President was expected in Kaduna on Wednesday to commission several state projects, but that visit has now been moved to Thursday, June 19.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu’s visit to Benue will feature meetings with traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community heads, and youth groups, as the President seeks to calm tensions and restore peace in affected areas.
In advance of the visit, President Tinubu has dispatched high-level officials to Benue, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, and the chairmen of the Senate and House committees on defence.
The President is also expected to hold a town hall meeting with various stakeholders during his visit to hear their concerns and foster dialogue.
President Tinubu had earlier condemned the ongoing violence in Benue, calling for peace, unity, and mutual understanding among the people.
He also expressed deep sympathy to families who have lost loved ones and others affected by the persistent attacks.
