Tinubu Orders Campaign Against Fuel Scooping After Niger Explosion

A tragic tanker explosion occurred at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State, killing over 80 people and injuring many others.

The accident involved a fuel-laden tanker that overturned, leading to widespread fuel scooping by locals.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the incident by directing the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to launch an immediate campaign to educate Nigerians on the dangers of fuel scooping.

The campaign aims to prevent such incidents in the future.

The President expressed sadness over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Niger State.

He also instructed authorities to provide full medical care for the injured and implement measures to avoid similar tragedies, Daily Trust reports.

The government stressed the risks associated with approaching accident scenes, especially those involving fuel, urging citizens to stay away from such sites to avoid preventable disasters.
