President Bola Tinubu has spoken against the coalition formed by some opposition figures aiming to remove him from power in 2027.
He made his remarks on Wednesday during a working visit to Nasarawa State.
While addressing the matter, Tinubu referred to members of the opposition alliance as “political internally displaced persons” who, according to him, are only trying to unseat themselves and do not deserve any attention.
This reaction comes amid rising talks of a new alliance among key opposition leaders including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
These politicians are reportedly in talks to form a united front against Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election.
Commenting on the coalition, former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani said the move is not truly in the interest of the public.
During an interview on Channels Television, he explained that many of the figures behind such alliances often feel left out of power and only come together to reclaim relevance.
Sani also stated that both the ruling party and the opposition are made up of members of the same political class, and claimed that the opposition only speaks up when it suits their interests or gives them political advantage.
The 2027 elections are still two years away, but political alignments and rivalry are already beginning to take shape.
