President Bola Tinubu, along with former Nigerian leaders Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, attended the inauguration of Ghana’s new president, John Mahama, in Accra on Tuesday.
According to PUNCH, Mahama, who had previously served as Ghana’s president, returned to office after succeeding Nana Akufo-Addo, who held the position from 2017.
The ceremony was historic not only for Mahama’s return but also for the swearing-in of Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Ghana’s first female vice president.
In his speech, President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s full support for Mahama’s leadership, praising his “patriotic vision and substance” and calling for greater unity across African nations. “Nigeria will always be there for Ghana,” Tinubu assured.
During his inaugural address, Mahama expressed his appreciation for the support of regional leaders, including Tinubu, and committed to enhancing cooperation within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to promote regional prosperity.
The event symbolized a deepening of ties between Ghana and Nigeria, reflecting a shared vision for unity and progress in West Africa.
