President Bola Tinubu has approved an extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, allowing her to remain in office until December 31, 2026.
The decision was announced on Monday by the president’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga. Nandap, who started her career in the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed as the head of the service on March 1, 2024.
Initially, she was expected to serve until August 31, 2025, but the latest approval extends her tenure by more than a year.
During her time in office, the NIS has seen improvements in border security and modernization efforts.
The government credited her leadership with driving changes in immigration processes and national security operations.
President Tinubu acknowledged her contributions and urged her to stay focused on strengthening the service.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the NIS in ensuring a secure and well-managed migration system.
