Tinubu Commissions Military Barracks Named After Him in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday inaugurated the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja. During the event, he acknowledged the Nigerian Armed Forces for their dedication to national security and assured them of his administration’s ongoing support.

The newly established barracks aim to address housing shortages for Army Headquarters personnel and other units in Abuja.

The facility includes accommodations for various ranks:

  • 16 units for Major Generals

The project began on November 26, 2022, under Major General Philip Eromosele, with funding from the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Punch reports.

It was completed on January 9, 2025, under the current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.

Earlier in the day, President Tinubu initiated the construction of a new Armed Forces Complex behind Lungi Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja, to further improve military operations and administration.

The ceremony was attended by key officials, including the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Forces, AbdulAziz Yar’adua.
