President Bola Tinubu has approved changes in the hierarchy of the nation’s Service Chiefs as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, all appointments take immediate effect.
In the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff. The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been appointed Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as the new Chief of Naval Staff.
However, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.
He urged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship within the Armed Forces.
