Tinubu 2023 campaign coordinator, Senator Marafa dumps APC

Senator Kabiru Marafa, the former Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Zamfara State, has officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Marafa confirmed his departure in a text message to Channels Television on Sunday, following a meeting with his political team last Wednesday and Thursday.

In a communiqué released after the meeting, the group’s leaders unanimously decided to leave the APC, citing what they described as injustice, neglect, and worsening insecurity in Zamfara State.

They expressed serious concerns over the deteriorating security situation, referencing recent statistics that indicated Zamfara as the state with the highest number of kidnapping incidents in the country.

The group also accused the Federal Government of politicizing insecurity during the recent Kaura Namoda bye-election, claiming that security forces were deployed to ensure the APC’s electoral victory instead of protecting lives.

“The entire structure with all its supporters hereby formally resigns from the All Progressives Congress in protest against the sustained injustice, mistrust, marginalisation, and deliberate neglect of Zamfara State and its people. We shall, in due course, announce our next political direction, guided by the collective interest of the good people of Zamfara State,” the communiqué, issued on Friday, stated in part.

Regarding political appointments, Marafa’s supporters criticized what they termed the intentional marginalization of Zamfara, despite the state’s significant contribution to the APC’s 2023 presidential victory.

They pointed out that while other states in the North-West secured multiple ministerial positions, Zamfara was allocated only one, and communities affected by banditry have seen little to no federal assistance.
