Three-year-old, five others abducted in Ondo, Niger

Six persons have been abducted by gunmen in Niger and Ondo states.

While five were whisked away by bandits in Niger, a three-year-old was kidnapped in Ondo.

Those abducted in Niger were returning from the weekly Beji market when the gunmen attacked them in Shiroro council of the state.

Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, learnt of the incident on a radio programme when a listener called in to report it.

Matane said the security agencies would respond to the abduction.

“This is one of the underreporting we are talking about. Until now, we never knew of these people who were kidnapped along Beji-Manta Road. But now that we have been alerted, we will do something about it,” he said.
