Tension in Kwara as Terrorists Kidnap Traditional Ruler in Ifelodun LGA

Terrorists have abducted a traditional ruler, Oba Bayagan, in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, heightening fears among residents as insecurity continues to escalate across the state.

Sources told Newsmen that the monarch was kidnapped on Saturday, although full details remain unclear at the time of filing this report.

Residents described the attack as sudden and terrifying, throwing the community into shock and confusion.
Kwara State has witnessed a troubling surge in violent crimes in recent years, with rural communities becoming prime targets for armed groups.

Just two weeks earlier, terrorists invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, abducting worshippers during a service. The victims were later rescued following a security operation.

Days after the church attack, another armed gang stormed Isapa community, also in the Ekiti axis, kidnapping at least 11 residents, including women and youths.
The abduction of Oba Bayagan has now deepened tension across Ifelodun and neighbouring LGAs, as residents fear further attacks.

Newsmen also previously reported that two residents of Manba Village in Patigi LGA were kidnapped late Friday night after terrorists stormed the village through the Rogun axis.

A community source said the attackers arrived around 11pm and fired repeatedly as villagers fled for safety.
“The gunmen came through Rogun and headed straight into Manba. They operated freely and took two people away,” the source said, adding that panic has spread to surrounding communities.

Security operatives have yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest abduction.
