Super Eagles, Equatorial Guinea settle for 1-1 draw in AFCON opener

Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea have settled for a 1-1 draw in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opener. In the game played at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday, Equatorial Guinea took the lead in the 35th minute after Ivan Edu curled a shot into the far right corner of the Super Eagles net. Breaking: Panic in Eagles camp as Kalu suffers heart attack

Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu on Friday suffered a heart attack according to reports coming from Egypt. A post on Twitter not on the team’s handle revealed that the Nigerian forward collapsed while trying to take a corner kick in training.  He was immediately stabilized by the team’s medical staff before taken to hospital for tests. Nigeria names final players for Africa Cup of Nations

Nigeria has named a final 23-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with captain John Obi Mikel leading the pack in Egypt. Buhari To Host Super Eagle Tomorrow

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will tommorow host the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the federal executive council meeting at Abuja. The statement read: “Solomon Dalung, minister of youth and sports, will present the country’s ambassadors to President Buhari, hours before they are due to fly to London aboard a chartered aircraft.” The team will play two more friendlies against the Czech Republic and England before the World Cup begins.
