DSS arrests Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 presidential election, Mr. Omowole Sowore, has been arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services. According to the Punch, his publishing outfit, Sahara Reporters, broke the news. According the Online medium, DSS operatives arrested Sowore in the early hours of Saturday at about 1.25 a.m. It added that Sowore was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday. Sowore posted a distress tweet at exactly 1:25 am with an eyewitness confirming that his phone was forcefully taken from him.
Court Stops Omoyele Sowore From Parading Self As AAC National Chairman
Justice Iyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restrained the suspended national chairman of the African Action Congress, AAC, and the presidential candidate of the party in the last presidential election, Mr Omoyele Sowore to stop parading himself as the national chairman of the party. The court also ordered the deputy national chairman of the party, Mr Malcolm Fabiyi, to stop parading himself as deputy national chairman. INEC Rejects Omoyele Sowore’s Suspension By Some AAC Members
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the suspension of the National chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) by some aggrieved members of the party. In a letter signed by Mrs Rose Anthony, the Commission said it will continue to recognise and relate with Mr. Sowore Omoyele as the substantive National Chairman of AAC. INEC said in the letter that there was no minutes or evidence of attendance of any meeting by AAC National Executive Committee Members where Sowore and eight members of the party were purportedly suspended.
