Bishop T.D. Jakes, the Senior Pastor of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, has decided to hand over the leadership of the church to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Toure Roberts.
This announcement came on Sunday, April 27, 2025, following a recent health scare where Jakes suffered a massive heart attack while delivering a sermon at the church.
Jakes, who established The Potter’s House in 1996, shared that the heart attack was a wake-up call, influencing his decision to step back from his leadership role.
He expressed his gratitude to the congregation for their faithfulness and assured them that his daughter and son-in-law would take over the responsibilities of the church starting in July 2025.
The bishop stated that after his health scare, he couldn’t take the risk of leaving his flock without guidance, especially in the future.
His daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, expressed her gratitude and joy at the opportunity to take on the role, noting that it was an honor for her to carry on her father’s legacy while ensuring he gets the rest he needs.
