Suspected Food Poisoning Claims Lives of Three Children

A tragic incident in Katsina State has left a family in mourning after three siblings lost their lives and a fourth was hospitalised following a suspected case of food poisoning.

The children—identified as Hussaina, Ahmed, and Nana Ayuba—reportedly fell ill after consuming a spaghetti meal at their home. They were taken to Jibia General Hospital for emergency treatment but sadly passed away shortly after arrival.

Their 12-year-old sister, Hafsat Ayuba, who also ate the same meal, is currently receiving medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.

In connection with the incident, police have taken 20-year-old Fatima Abdulkadir, who prepared the meal, into custody. Two other individuals have also been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

Security officials have since visited the family home to gather evidence and continue their inquiries. The three deceased children have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions.
