Former presidential candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has launched a sharp attack on former United States President Donald Trump, accusing him of exploiting military power and religious sentiment to justify imperial ambitions across resource-rich regions of the world.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Sowore described Trump as intoxicated by American military dominance, alleging that he routinely scans the globe for countries endowed with oil and rare earth minerals before deciding on invasion or intervention. According to him, the narratives used to justify such actions are often secondary and tailored only to deceive a gullible audience.
Sowore also criticised the widely circulated claim of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, describing it as a calculated and emotionally manipulative ruse designed to serve foreign political interests. He argued that the narrative was crafted to occupy a sensitive moral space and has been effectively deployed to influence public opinion, particularly among religious communities.
The activist further questioned Trump’s moral standing, insisting that the former U.S. president does not represent the values of the Christian faith he often claims to defend. Sowore stated that Trump neither loves his neighbour nor genuinely cares about the welfare of ordinary Americans who do not align with his political ideology.
He concluded that Trump’s primary motivations are personal power and financial gain, asserting that religion, morality and humanitarian concern are merely theatrical tools used to legitimise predetermined geopolitical agendas.
