Senate Confirms New NDIC Managing Director, Executive Director

By Charles Maduka

The Senate has confirmed Oludare Sunday and Kabir Kataka as the new Managing Director and Executive Director of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

Their confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, chaired by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru of Lagos East, who urged the chamber to approve the nominations.

President Bola Tinubu had forwarded the names of the nominees to the Senate in May for screening and confirmation, in line with statutory provisions governing the appointment of NDIC leadership.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the request during plenary before it was sent to the appropriate committee for review.

With Thursday’s confirmation, Oludare and Kataka are set to assume their roles at the NDIC, a key institution in Nigeria’s banking sector. Their appointments are expected to boost confidence and enhance financial stability in the country.
