The Nigerian Senate has approved the recruitment of 30,000 new officers into the Nigeria Police Force to help tackle manpower shortage and improve security operations across the country.
The decision was made public on Friday, June 27, by the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, following the Federal Government’s nod to begin the hiring process.
The Police Service Commission was granted the authority to carry out the recruitment exercise.
The new intake is part of the government’s plan to address the growing need for more officers in the force.
According to the committee, the plan will also allow for continuous yearly recruitment to ensure that the gap in personnel is gradually closed.
Nigerians have been advised to wait for official announcements in national newspapers and to avoid being misled by fraudulent agents during the recruitment process.
