Security Operatives Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers in Delta, Recover Ransom, Firearms

Two suspected kidnappers have been killed during a joint security operation in the Edo-Ogwashi-Uku community, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. The successful operation was carried out by personnel of the Nigerian Army 63 Brigade, Asaba, in collaboration with the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the local Edo-Ogwashi Security outfit.

According to reports, the operatives stormed the criminal hideout, leading to a gun battle during which two suspects were neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

During the operation, the team recovered one AK-47 rifle, three loaded magazines, and 16 rounds of live ammunition from the suspects. A portion of ransom money collected from previous kidnapping victims was also retrieved.

Human rights advocate and security volunteer, Comrade Harrison Gwamnishu, who confirmed the development in a Facebook post, revealed that the operation was made possible through intelligence provided by a tracking unit linked to the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

Gwamnishu stated that the slain suspects were behind the recent abductions of two female students from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, and an estate supervisor kidnapped and shot in Ubulu-Okiti.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting grassroots security efforts and commended the swift intervention of the military and police officers involved.

“Special thanks to the Military 63 Brigade Garrison Commander and other security heads in Oshimili North and Aniocha South, as well as the DPO of Ogwashi-Uku Division, for their rapid response,” he said.

Gwamnishu also praised his team for their commitment and vigilance, singling out Intel Ejemizu Chidozie Peters for his exceptional readiness.
