SDP confirms Starnews report, officially unveils Akingboye as guber candidate

The Social Democratic party, has officially unveiled, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye as its governorship candidate for the November 16 election in Ondo state.

The development officially confirmed Starnews NG report on June 9, 2024.

Starnews NG had reported that former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ondo State, Bamidele Akingboye, emerged the new candidate of the Social Development Party, (SDP) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.

Two top sources in the party hinted Starnews NG last Sunday on the development.

According to the sources, the substituted primary election of the party was held in Akure.

“Akingboye resigned his membership of the PDP since over a month ago, about two weeks after the primary,” a top source disclosed.

“Due to the clarion calls from his supporters, he joined the SDP and emerge the party’s candidate at the substitution primary held today at the state Secretariat,” the source said.

But on Wednesday, the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), officially unveiled Akingboye and announced Erelu Susan Gbemisola Alabi, as the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the November 16, Guber poll in Ondo state.

The National Secretary of the party, Dr Olu Agunloye, has confirmed the development to Vanguard.

Akingboye contested the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) primary election which saw Agboola Ajayi as the party’s guber candidate.

This may not be unconnected to his movement from from the PDP to the SDP to realise his governorship ambition.
