Results were being manipulated to favour APC, PDP raises alarm

The Director General of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Council, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, raised objections early Sunday morning regarding the Edo governorship election, claiming that the results were being manipulated to favor the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

While journalists and some party agents awaited the official announcement of results at the Conference Hall of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office, a group of around 20 protesters gathered at the entrance gate of INEC.

Iduoriyekemwen asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was on course for victory, but alleged that there were attempts to alter the final results to undermine the will of the voters.

He further accused the APC leader in the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and the reinstated deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, of engaging in ballot-stuffing to narrow the margin by which the PDP was leading.

“We will not accept this, we will contest it,” he said this at about 2:27 am when He led the protesters to the venue.

They have since been dispersed by the police shortly after speaking to journalists through the barricade
