By Charles Maduka

A diesel tanker overturned at Liverpool Bridge in Apapa, Lagos, causing traffic disruption and raising safety concerns in the area.

Videos circulating online showed residents scooping diesel from the fallen tanker after it crashed on the bridge inward Mile 2, blocking the road and preventing commuters from passing.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the tanker’s tank was damaged, leading to diesel spilling across the bridge. The agency confirmed that the situation posed a danger to motorists and pedestrians.

LASTMA also said officers of the Nigerian Police Force and other safety agencies were alerted and deployed to the scene to manage the situation and prevent further risks.

Traffic was diverted to the other side of the bridge to ensure public safety, while motorists were advised to follow traffic instructions as efforts continued to restore normal movement in the area.
