Ramadan: Jigawa Government Reduces Work Hours for Civil Servants

The Jigawa State government has adjusted the working hours for civil servants throughout the Ramadan fasting period.

Governor Umar Namadi approved the change, allowing workers to close earlier than usual.

A statement from the Public Relations Officer of the State Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, confirmed the decision on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital. Civil servants will now report to work at 9:00 AM and close at 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, instead of the usual 5:00 PM. On Fridays, they will close by 1:00 PM.

The adjustment is intended to give workers more time for religious observance and to prepare for the daily Ramadan break. The government hopes that civil servants will use this period to pray for the state’s well-being.

Officials believe this move will help workers balance their job responsibilities with their spiritual duties. The state government also encourages prayers for peace and economic stability in the region and across Nigeria.

Civil servants are expected to take advantage of the reduced hours to engage in religious activities and spend quality time with their families. The government sees this as a way to support workers during the sacred month.
