Protest Rocks Nasarawa Over Governor Sule Removal

Protests have broken out in Akwanga and some other parts of Nasarawa State over the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal (GEPT) in Lafia.

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress APC and those loyal to Governor Sule took to the streets to express displeasure over what they called injustice done to the governor by the Tribunal.

Recall that the Tribunal on Monday, 2nd of October 2023, ruled that Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party was the lawful winner of the March 18 polls, rendering the incumbent Governor an illegitimate occupant of the governorship seat in the state.

Dissatisfied with the verdict, the APC and Sule rejected the judgement and instructed its legal team to proceed to the appellate court for an appeal.

In support of the Governor, some party stakeholders took to the streets of Akwanga LG for a solidarity march, carrying banners with inscriptions like; “Akwanga people stand with the dissenting judgment”, among others.
