Prioritize Electricity, not Coastal Roads- Analyst advises Tinubu

A public affairs analyst, Comrade Timileyin Ayenuro has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize regular electricity supply that will pave way for industrialization in his Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ayenuro, a former Vice President of the National Association of the Nigerian Students ( NANS), said that whenever issue on industrialization is raised in the country, what comes to mind is the lack of constant, reliable electricity.

“ For decades, this singular issue has crippled our ability to develop sustainable industries, attract investment, and empower small businesses.

“Without 24/7 power supply, factories cannot operate at full capacity, tech hubs struggle to stay online, hospitals rely on generators, and students are left studying in darkness.

“Entrepreneurs spend more on diesel than on innovation. Entire communities remain disconnected from the digital and manufacturing economy.

“While infrastructure is critical, it is important for our leaders especially Mr President Bola Tinubu to understand that a 700-kilometre coastal highway, no matter how ambitious, will not solve Nigeria’s core economic problems if it is not matched with stable, nationwide electricity,” he stated.

According to him, roads do not power machines and highways do not run factories but electricity does.

He added that what the country needs is a clear, strategic, and well-funded plan to provide uninterrupted electricity to every home, school, and industry.

The analyst further stated that regular power supply is the foundation of real development: from agriculture to technology and manufacturing to healthcare, saying that every sector depends on energy.

“ I urge our leaders to shift their priorities and focus on reliable, affordable, and accessible electricity as the key to unlocking Nigeria’s full potential.

“It’s time to power Nigeria forward, not just pave it,” he advised.
