Residents of Utako and parts of Wuye in Nigeria’s federal capital, Abuja, have been left without electricity following a power outage blamed on a technical fault by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
In a public notice issued on December 22, 2025, AEDC said the outage was caused by a fault on the feeder supplying electricity to the affected areas.
The electricity distribution company said its technical team had been deployed to the site and was working to restore power supply, but did not provide a timeline for full restoration.
“We regret to inform you that the current power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeder serving your area,” AEDC said in the notice.
The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience while repair works continue.
AEDC advised residents seeking further information or updates to contact its customer support channels, including WhatsApp lines 08152141414 and 08152151515, as well as its customer care line 08039070070.
The outage has disrupted daily activities in the affected neighbourhoods, with residents expressing frustration over the lack of power supply amid ongoing economic challenges.
