Portable Mocks Davido, Asake Over Grammy Loss

By: Bayero Ade

Controversial street-pop artist Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has reacted to the outcome of the 67th Grammy Awards, where several Nigerian artists failed to secure wins.

According to Afripost, as previously reported, singer Tems won the award for Best African Music Performance and dedicated the achievement to her mother in her acceptance speech.

In a recent social media post, Portable emphasized that receiving a Grammy nomination does not guarantee a win. He confidently declared himself his own “backup” and expressed his belief that he is destined to win a Grammy in the future.

The Zeh Nation leader highlighted his career achievements and hit songs while taking a jab at the Nigerian artists who lost, pointing out that it was a female artist—Tems—who brought home the award.

He also mocked Asake for wearing an army uniform to the ceremony, stating that the Grammys were not a battleground but a celebration of success.

Portable went on to claim that any artist who collaborates with him is bound to win a Grammy. He specifically mentioned Naira Marley, asserting that the singer should have won an award due to his international recognition before returning to Nigeria.

Additionally, he urged Skepta to submit their joint track Tony Montana for the next Grammy consideration and encouraged Olamide to put forward Zazu for nomination.

The singer concluded by stating that the award was not given to the artist who had previously clashed with him, though he did not mention names explicitly.
