Police Warn Public Against Viral Fake Document on VIP Withdrawal

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a stern clarification over a purported document circulating widely on social media, which claims to originate from the 50 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Abuja, directing all police officers attached to certain individuals to report back to base immediately.

In a statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, the Force described the document, allegedly signed by one CSP Suleiman Abdullahi, identified as the Admin Officer of the squadron, as fake.

The statement clarified that there is no officer by that name serving in 50 PMF Squadron, and that the position of Admin Officer in any PMF squadron is not held by an officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

The Force noted that the fabrication appears aimed at misleading the public and creating confusion.

CSP Hundeyin emphasised that the implementation of the Presidential Directive on the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties has indeed commenced.

However, the process is being carried out in a structured, phased, and professional manner to prevent any security vacuum that could be exploited by criminals.

He assured that the safety and security of all Nigerians remain the Force’s priority, with measures in place to maintain law and order throughout the transition.

The public was urged to rely on official channels for verified information and refrain from sharing unverified documents that could undermine confidence in the Police.

Hundeyin reiterated the NPF’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property at all times.
