The Nigeria Police Force has concluded investigations into a high-profile corporate fraud involving three Ghanaian nationals—Samuel Esson Jonah, Kojo Mensah Ansah, and Victor Quainoo—alongside a Nigerian accomplice, Abu Arome.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects are accused of orchestrating an elaborate scheme to unlawfully acquire ownership and control of JonahCapital Nigeria Limited, along with its assets in Houses for Africa Nigeria Limited and River Park Estate.
The police allege that the group fraudulently increased the company’s share capital and allocated 99 million shares to themselves using forged documents and falsified signatures. Investigators also uncovered that the suspects falsely identified as Nigerian citizens in filings with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Adejobi clarified that despite misleading reports suggesting the suspects had been cleared, no exoneration had been made by any panel within the Police Force. “They have refused multiple invitations and instead launched smear campaigns against the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Force, and the investigating officers,” the statement read.
In accordance with diplomatic procedures, the Ghanaian High Commission has been formally notified. The Police will now proceed to prosecute the suspects for offenses including corporate fraud, forgery, criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and obstruction of justice.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to due process and the protection of legal business interests. He urged foreign investors to continue exploring Nigeria’s investment opportunities while respecting the rule of law.
“The Nigeria Police remains steadfast in ensuring a secure and transparent business environment as part of efforts to drive national economic recovery and growth,” Egbetokun stated.
