Police rescue 10 victims, uncover baby factory in Lagos

The Lagos State Police have successfully dismantled a baby factory in the Ijegun area, rescuing 10 individuals, including seven women and three children. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the operation.

Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the raid followed a tip-off received last Saturday.

The police apprehended the main suspect, Mariam Vincent, 35, along with Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18.

Among those rescued were women aged between 22 and 26, as well as three children—Destiny, 7, Miracle, 5, and Success, 2. All the victims are now receiving necessary medical attention and care.

Hundeyin disclosed that the suspects admitted to abducting the victims from various parts of Lagos to operate the illegal facility.

The investigation is ongoing, and legal action will be taken against the suspects.

In another update, Hundeyin shared that 39 individuals were arrested in the past two weeks for crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, and possession of illegal firearms.

Meanwhile, police also rescued two individuals who had been kidnapped in the Igbe Alagemo area of Ikorodu.

The victims, Dare, 40, and Rodiat, 25, were abducted on March 26 by armed kidnappers who killed a security dog during the attack.

After a three-day joint operation by the police and local security, the victims were rescued on March 29 and returned to their families. Investigations are still ongoing, and the area is under surveillance.
