Police Officer Shot Dad Dead in Maiduguri

A sergeant with Mopol 6 Maiduguri, Linus Wadzani, has been arrested after shooting his father, retired ASP Wadzani Ntasiri in Borno State.

The incident occurred around 4:30pm on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at their residence in the Tudu Area of Maiduguri of the State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Sgt. Wadzani returned home with his AK-47 rifle and had a disagreement with his father and he fired multiple gunshots at his father after the misunderstanding.

Police officers on patrol heard the gunshots and promptly responded, securing the area.

“The suspect was disarmed and arrested, preventing further harm,” the police spokesperson confirmed.

“Sgt. Wadzani is currently in custody at the State CID Maiduguri as investigations continue.”

The deceased’s body has been taken to the Specialist Hospital Maiduguri for an autopsy.
