The Police has invited Engr Razak Obe, the Ondo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources over the allegation of forgery of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s signature.

He was invited to appear at the Police headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, May 23, 2024 to allegedly substantiate his claim.

In a leaked memo sighted by Starnews NG on Friday night, the Inspector General of Police, has directed the Deputy Inspector General in charge of criminal investigation department to handle the case.

The letter dated 27th March, 2024, with reference number CB:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.702/418 and signed by ACP Idris Abdullahi Abubakar, the IG urged the DCP to probe the matter as requested by Chatham Partners.

Recall that in a letter dated December 7, addressed to the then Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Obe raised concerns about the forgery.

He detailed that the discrepancies were detected when a file from his ministry, part of a batch of five submitted for approval, was returned.

Upon closer examination, Obe identified differences between the suspicious signature and Governor Akeredolu’s known signatures.

Kayode Ajulo, a senior advocate of Nigeria, also alleged that some Ondo government officials were forging Akeredolu’s signature on documents.

Sources at the Police headquarters said Aiyedatiwa’s commissioner risks arrest and prosecution if he is unable to substantiate his claim.

Starnews NG reports that at a time many Akeredolu’s aides were doing eye service at the detriment of the Ondo State Peoples, Engr Obe summoned the courage and raised the alarm that some people within the state cabinet were forging the signature of the late governor.
