The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has shifted the commencement date for full enforcement of the tinted glass permit requirement to October 2, 2025.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the extension following what the Force described as a surge in applications on its official portal, reflecting growing public compliance.
In a statement issued on Monday by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF explained that the decision was aimed at allowing adequate time for thorough review of all pending applications to ensure that only eligible and qualified individuals are granted permits, in line with national security considerations.
The police also noted that the extended deadline would provide room for further enhancement of both digital and physical verification processes. This, they said, is necessary to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent potential abuse.
Members of the public were urged to report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing through the appropriate complaint channels provided by the Force.
The tinted glass regulation, which is intended to curb criminal activities and improve public safety, requires that all vehicle owners with factory-fitted or aftermarket tinted windows obtain official authorization from the NPF before use on Nigerian roads.
