Police Confirm Arrest of Dancer Lil Smart Over Cyberstalking Allegations

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of former Marlian Records signee and dancer, Lil Smart, following allegations of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and defamation against his former record label boss, Naira Marley, and singer Zinoleesky.

According to Afripost, Lil Smart had recently been at the center of a controversy, accusing Naira Marley and Zinoleesky of assault, abduction, and manipulation. Reports surfaced that he had been detained at an undisclosed location, as revealed by Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the police clarified the circumstances surrounding his arrest, stating that he was taken into custody last month at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos. Law enforcement officials also recovered evidence linked to the case.

The statement reads: “Following a petition filed by a law firm, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Unit arrested Idowu Smart Emmanuel for criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Abdulazeez Adeshina Fashola (A.K.A Naira Marley).”

The police further stated that investigations revealed Lil Smart had used his Instagram handle, @lilsmart_, to make false claims about being abducted and assaulted.

His arrest on January 28, 2025, has reignited discussions around online accusations and defamation, as authorities continue to crack down on social media-related offenses.
